Today is day #1 of our church-wide 21 day fast as we look for spiritual breakthroughs in our relationship with God & in dealing with our habits and addictions.  We are praying for you during this time & believing that God will bring victories in your life through this process.

When we fast, we deny ourselves things we love for something we love even more. We’re fasting as part of the Rehab series to break addictions and create a habit of focusing on Jesus.

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT FASTING?

Biblical fasting, unlike fasting for medical or health reasons, must be done with an attitude of seriousness and sincerity. When we fast, we willingly deprive the body of something that satisfies us in some way. The body requires food for sustenance; therefore our hearts and minds must be totally focused and directed toward God so that He may be the full source of our strength during our period of fasting.

Fasting must also be done in an attitude of humility. It is not necessary for others to know we are fasting; it is directed toward God. "But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matthew 6:17-18 NIV

Fasting is about creating a closer personal connection with God in our hearts. It’s isn’t just a task to complete to impress others. Our attitudes toward God and our motives must be in right place.

DEVELOP A PLAN
1) What will you be giving up?
2) How will you use that time to seek God? When?
3) Write down a plan and consider keeping a journal
4) Be praying with anticipation of what God will do.

Alright, lets get started!!  We're standing with you in this.
