The older, I mean, more mature I get, the more dependent I realize I am. That seems backwards doesn’t it? We think we’re dependent when we’re a kid but then we grow into independence and become my own person. That’s all true, but what I’ve also realized is that with more and more time spinning around on this planet, I understand more and more how little I truly know and how little I’m in control.

This might seem simple-minded to some, and many in our world might call it a crutch, but I NEED God. I think we all do. The world and its problems are complex and vast. They are so much bigger than me. I NEED God. I need His direction. I need His wisdom. I need His leading.

One of the ways we connect our need with His power and wisdom is through prayer. Prayer is more than telling God what we want. Prayer is more than a ritual blessing of food. Prayer is more than a superstition. Prayer is about relationship. Prayer is our opportunity to have an audience with the God of the universe and to be heard by Him. Prayer is our opportunity to place ourselves daily in His hands. Prayer is our opportunity to tell God of our need for Him and to receive His help.

The older I get the more I realize that I need Him and the more I realize that you need Him and the more I realize that we need Him. In this month’s Journey Sheet we shared some Prayer Goals with you. Those goals are centered on a few of our Core Essentials, but more importantly they are centered on God and our dependence on Him.

Would you take time to pray these with us this week? I really believe that if we would commit to praying and living out these 3 prayers we would see greater impact in and through The Journey and greater impact in and through our lives than ever before.

Quit trying to be so independent! Let’s all be more dependent . . . on the One who loves us most and knows us best.
