We have the Monday Motivation email (and lets be honest, we all need a little motivation on Monday's!).  So, today is Wednesday Wisdom.  You ready for it?

You can't do it and you'll never be able to!

Aren't you glad you stopped by?  We live in a world where we're told that if we just try harder, work more, are more committed, we can accomplish anything.  We tell our kids that.  It's part of the DNA of being an American.  It's at the heart of the American dream.  And . . .

It's dead wrong!

When it comes to the life of following after God, you can't do it.  You'll never be able to.  It won't help to just try harder.  You can't learn enough.  You can't work enough.  And you know this, right?  Because you've tried and failed, just like me.  You tried to quit that habit, to quit thinking that thought, to stop lying.  You tried to keep on that diet, spend consistent time with God, try to be more loving.

And you felt defeated, right?  Maybe you did pretty good . . . for a while.  But it didn't last.

Why?  Well, 1.  You're not perfect (I hate to be the one to break it to you, but someone had to!)  2.  God is perfect.  Which pretty much puts us in an impossible situation.

Except that God made a way for us to be right with Him, to bridge the gap, to be connected, through what Jesus did on the cross.  To see a great visual of what that looks like you can check out "The Bridge".

But when we are in that relationship with Jesus, then everything can change.  Not because we just got better but because of who He is and what He can do in our lives.  It's all about Him.

QUIT TRYING TO JUST DO BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION.  IT'S ABOUT WHO YOU ARE BECOMING NOT WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

Here's THE one step you can take that can change everything.  This one simple step can make all the difference.  So, how do things change in our lives?  They change when we make Jesus the Center.

At the end of March, we set some goals as a church for the coming year.  These goals will help you become who God wants you to be.  They will cause you to be more dependent on Him.  You can't do it and you'll never be able to, but God can in you.  Check out those goals and take a step.

CHECK THEM OUT RIGHT HERE!  You can do THAT!
