4 Words Web

We live in a harsh and chaotic world. You turn on the news or sports and it's often debate TV with people arguing. Our political system is just one side bashing the other. We experience harsh attitudes in everyday life with people commenting online with rude words they'd never say in person. And things like customer service seem to be dead.

There are 4 simple words that can change our lives & experiences. In a chaotic and harsh world, these 4 words will make you stand out as they open doors, build bridges, prioritize our purpose, and resolve conflict. These 4 words will determine our success & happiness, enhance our relationships, and drive our dreams. These 4 words can change your life, your relationships with the ones you love, & your leadership.

PLEASE

Nothing opens doors like a genuine please. The word please is a simple word we learn as a child and often ignore as an adult. The idea of saying please is honoring others and their efforts. Do you remember the golden rule? It's about treating others the way we want to be treated (Matthew 7:12). A genuine please is paired with an attitude of meekness. Meekness is all about kindness, compassion, humility, and patience (Colossians 3:12-15). We will honor others and treat them with respect, it opens doors to relationships, partnerships, and success.

THANKS

Nothing builds bridges like a Thank You. Did you know that there are scientific studies that show shifts in our brains when we a grateful? Thankfulness releases endorphins in our brain to bring feelings of joy and satisfaction. Saying thanks shows appreciation and can grow connections. Being grateful can reduce stress, help us find contentment to be financially wise, develop relationships, and even draw us nearer to God. (Ephesians 5:17-20, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

NO

Nothing can set our priorities like a purposeful no. No can seem like a bad word, especially in our yes culture. It seems like in our culture people say yes to too many things leading to a life of stress and chaos. Saying no can help us avoid distractions and find a life of purpose. The reality is if you say yes to something, you're saying no to another part of your life. Saying no is about making wise choices in our lives (Ephesians 5:15-17) and leaning into what is most important (Matthew 6:33).

SORRY

Nothing mends fences with a sincere sorry. Even in our harsh world where people are ready and willing to tear someone down, it's interesting how quickly people forgive when someone offers a sincere apology. The word sorry by itself doesn't have the power to change our lives. If we are willing to be vulnerable, wrong, and self-reflective, a sincere sorry can bring peace and healing to our lives and relationships. It must be since (Proverbs 15:11) and a sorry like the board game. In the Bible, we see the idea of reconciliation. It's more than just saying sorry, it's about making the relationship right.

These 4 words - Please, Thanks, No, Sorry - can seem simple but they can truly change our lives. You can find more insight in our series here.
