How do I share my faith? I feel like I have seen and experienced some negative ways, but how do I do it in a postive way? This can be scary and intimatiating on all sides of this, so let's look at 1 Peter 3:15 for some insight:

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Revere Christ. First let's align our hearts with God. Sharing your faith happens best when people see the difference in you. We want to experience God's grace, forgiveness, love and hope in greater ways so that it overflows out of our lives.
Always be prespared to give an answer for the hope that you have. This doesn't mean we need to know all of the theological questions someone might ask. You might feel like I'm still trying to figure it all out. That's okay. Yes we should continue to grow in our understand and knowledge of God, but you don't have to have all the answer. This verse say to give an answer for the hope that you have. It's about sharing what you have experience and what you know about God. If someone ask you a questions, you can say,"I'm not sure about that, but this is what I do know is....". Like if you were going to a good restaurant and eat something amazing, you would post it on instagram or tell someone about it. We can share what we have experienced in our faith in normal conversations and it doesn't have to be weird. Note that that verse says to be prepared. We can pray for boldness, pray for opportunities, and pray for our friends and family. We could take a few minutes to think about a few aspects of God that are meaningful to me and how can I easily share them. We can be looking for opportunities to share because we are prepared.
Gentleness and Respect. This verse ends with a key note of sharing our faith with gentleness and respect. I have seen people yell on street corners, experience situation that seem more transactionally like you're signing up for a pyramid scam, or what seems like just trying to convert someone to a religion. I know this, an argument doesn't change the others persons mind. Sharing your faith best happens in relationships. This is about sharing the hope and goodness of God that you experienced because you want the other person to experience the same thing. So approach it with gentleness and respect.

As you look to share your faith, remember that isn't not about having the right magic words or put pressure on yourself or the situation. God is the one who shifts hearts. So let's share out of the overflow of what we've experiences. Don't be pushy. Be prayerful. Don't be wordy or weird. Be yourself and talk normal. Don't be overbearing. Be a listener first.
